Independence alum awarded scholarship during Daytime Emmys

Independence High School alum Nathan Campbell was honored at the 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in December.

The Class of 2023 graduate the recipient of this year's McKenzie Family Scholarship, which is a $20,000 scholarship given annually to a student who is pursuing a career in the television industry.

"I am so proud of Nathan for getting this scholarship," Matt Balzer, Campbell's TV/film teacher at IHS, said in a WCS release.

"It is definitely deserved from all of the hard work he has put into filmmaking. When he was my student, I was always amazed by his effort in creating original stories with great technical skills. He pushed me to be a better teacher, and I am so excited to see what comes next." 

Campbell is currently studying film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
